Shohag Rahman: The World’s Poultry Science Association – Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB) successfully held its Annual General Meeting 2024 on Saturday, May 24, at its secretariat located in Bashundhara Residential Area, Dhaka. The event brought together key Leaders, Researchers, Industry Stakeholders, and Members of the organization.
The meeting featured detailed discussions on the current status, future direction, and policy frameworks of the poultry sector. The formal proceedings commenced with recitation from the Holy Scriptures, followed by addresses from the President, General Secretary, and presentation of the annual audit report by the Treasurer. In his speech, WPSA-BB President Mr. Mosiur Rahman emphasized modernization, innovation, and environmental sustainability in poultry farming. He stated, “In this era of globalization, we must adopt a technology-driven, skill-based, and research-oriented approach to build a competitive poultry industry.” General Secretary Dr. Biplob Kumar Pramanik reviewed the organization’s activities over the past year, highlighting initiatives for capacity building, research implementation, and the development of a data-driven decision-making platform for members. Treasurer Agriculturist Foyzur Rahman presented the audited financial report and proposed a forward-looking budget for 2025–2026 with a strong focus on research grants, youth training programs, and national and international seminars. Two new executive positions—Secretary of Science & ICT and Secretary of Public Relations & Publications—were approved to strengthen organizational capacity, increasing the number of executive committee members to 23. During the open discussion session, members underscored the need for enhanced research, international collaboration, and increased youth engagement in the sector. In his closing remarks, the President thanked all participants for their active involvement and called for a united approach to policy implementation and knowledge-based advancement in the poultry industry. The event concluded with a networking dinner, marking a meaningful step forward for WPSA-BB’s strategic vision. |
