Maastricht, Netherlands – June 24, 2025: The 24th European Symposium on Poultry Nutrition (ESPN 2025) officially began yesterday, June 23, in the historic city of Maastricht, drawing over 1,800 participants from across the globe. The event, which runs through June 26, is jointly organized by the Dutch and Belgian branches of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA), and is one of the most influential forums for poultry nutrition science and innovation in Europe.
This year’s theme — “Environmental Impact: Challenges for Poultry Nutrition” — sets the tone for an ambitious scientific program focused on sustainability, alternative feed ingredients, precision nutrition, and next-generation feeding strategies. The opening day featured plenary sessions from internationally renowned researchers and keynote speakers addressing issues such as circular food systems, novel protein sources like insect meal, and the role of AI in feed optimization. Stakeholders from Bangladesh Join the Global Dialogue: Notably, a delegation of poultry sector stakeholders from Bangladesh is attending ESPN 2025, marking a significant presence from South Asia. Among the Bangladeshi participants are academics, commercial feed manufacturers, and poultry integrators, keen to connect with global experts and bring home insights into sustainable and efficient poultry nutrition strategies. Their presence highlights Bangladesh’s growing commitment to innovation in the poultry industry, particularly in areas like feed formulation, mycotoxin control, and climate-resilient production systems. “We’re here to learn from cutting-edge global research and explore partnerships that can strengthen Bangladesh’s poultry value chain,” said one Bangladeshi delegate on the sidelines of the opening session. Science Meets Industry: ESPN 2025’s exhibition floor is abuzz with activity, featuring booths from major international players such as Cargill, Huvepharma, Elanco, and BASF. Scientific sessions continue today with discussions on nutrient requirements, feed technology innovations, and early-life nutrition strategies. Organizing committee co-chairs Dr. Evelyne Delezie (Belgium) and Dr. René Kwakkel (Netherlands) emphasized the importance of empowering young scientists and bridging the gap between academic research and industry implementation. With two days remaining, ESPN 2025 promises more networking, innovation showcases, and forward-looking discussions — all centered on the future of poultry nutrition. |
