FishTech Hosts Aquaculture Knowledge Day 2025 in Dhaka

Dhaka, July 26, 2025 — FishTech (BD) Ltd successfully organized the “Aquaculture Knowledge Day 2025” on Saturday at the Bengal Blueberry Hotel in Dhaka. The event, themed “Innovation for Sustainable Future”, aimed to highlight advanced practices and research in aquaculture while promoting the conservation message: “Let’s create sanctuaries, enrich the nation with native fish.”

The day-long event began at 9:00 AM with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a warm welcome address from Mohammed Tarique Sarker, Managing Director of FishTech Hatchery Ltd. The keynote speech was delivered by Md. Tofazzal Hossain, Secretary (Current Charge), attended as the chief guest. In his remarks, he emphasized the government’s ongoing support for the fisheries sector and commended FishTech’s innovative contributions, particularly in the face of environmental challenges.

He noted, “Despite a decline in waterbodies over the past three decades, Bangladesh has managed to meet the growing demand for fish protein for over 180 million people—a testament to the strength of both public policy and private innovation.”

The event featured two oral presentation sessions, showcasing a total of eight research papers on various aspects of aquaculture, including FishTech’s initiatives, the success of the BMC project, and the integration of modern technology in sustainable fish farming.

Participants also had the opportunity to engage with poster displays and innovative booths. One of the highlights of the day was the official launch of the FishTech Barta publication and the presentation of honorary mementos by Rafiul Hasan Chowdhury, General Manager of FishTech Ltd.

An engaging expert panel discussion titled “Future Innovation in Aquaculture from Research to Field Application explored how research outcomes can be practically applied in farming systems. A technical session on “Door-to-Door Farming Service” was also held, followed by an award-giving ceremony recognizing notable contributors.

Md. Ataul Karim Bhuiyan moderated the event, which concluded with a group photo session capturing the vibrant spirit of collaboration and innovation. In his closing remarks, Khandakar Farhad Hossain, Chairman of FishTech (BD) Ltd, expressed gratitude to all attendees, especially the participating fisheries scientists and stakeholders, for their contributions to the sector’s progress.
