| Saifi Nasir has emerged as a shining star in Bangladesh’s fisheries and aquaculture sector, earning international recognition for his outstanding contributions to fisheries nutrition and aquaculture development. In a significant milestone of his professional career, he has recently been awarded membership of the Japanese Society of Fisheries Science (JSFS), one of the world’s most prestigious professional organizations in fisheries science.
This recognition goes beyond individual achievement; it represents a matter of pride and inspiration for Bangladesh’s fisheries expert, aqua nutritionists, researchers and aquaculture professionals. In acknowledgment of his contributions to fisheries and aquaculture across different countries, Saifi Nasir was officially nominated as a member of JSFS on 3 February 2026. Currently, Saifi Nasir is serving as Assistant General Manager (Fish Feed) at the renowned KGS Group, working at the organization’s Dhaka Head Office. Throughout his career, he has played a vital role in advancing fish feed nutrition, sustainable aquaculture practices, and knowledge dissemination within the fisheries sector. The Japanese Society of Fisheries Science (JSFS) was established in 1932 in Konan, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of fisheries science. Through scientific research and collaboration, JSFS contributes to fulfilling global commitments in the fisheries sector while emphasizing the conservation of natural aquatic resources and sustainable development. JSFS actively covers both capture fisheries and aquaculture, including fishing environments, fish feed nutrition, and fisheries-related industries and trade. The society currently has around 5,000 members, comprising researchers, technologists, students, and representatives from private organizations. Reflecting Japan’s strong commitment to global fisheries development, JSFS has also become one of the founding council members of the recently established World Fisheries Society. The organization places strong emphasis on a wide range of disciplines, including Fisheries Science, Marine Science, Biological Science, Aquaculture, Environmental Science, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Food and Nutrition Science and Technology and Social Science. Saifi Nasir’s achievement has been warmly celebrated across Bangladesh’s aquaculture and feed industries. Colleagues, students, and sector stakeholders have expressed their pride and extended heartfelt congratulations, recognizing the achievement as a collective success for the country’s fisheries sector.
