| On Friday evening, 21 November 2025, a get-together of leading professionals associated with the country’s poultry industry was held at the Gulshan residence of prominent industrialist Mr. Moshiur Rahman. The event was organized by Mr. Moshiur Rahman, former president of the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA)–Bangladesh Branch and Managing Director of Paragon Group, and Director Mrs. Yasmin Rahman. In the presence of top entrepreneurs of the country’s poultry and livestock sector and leaders of various poultry-related organizations, the get-together was held in a festive environment.
Guests were warmly received by Paragon Group’s Managing Director Mr. Moshiur Rahman, Director Mrs. Yasmin Rahman, and their son and company Director Mr. Mehran Rahman. Although the program was scheduled to start in the evening, guests began arriving well ahead of time. With more than a hundred invited guests and a wide variety of delicious dishes, the get-together gradually became vibrant. Along with food and friendly conversations, various discussions and reviews continued throughout the evening. The realities of the domestic poultry industry, existing challenges, future prospects, and new investment possibilities—nothing was left out. Some even used the opportunity to conduct business discussions. Later in the night, the casual chat came to a pause, and everyone gathered on the lower floor.
There, another special segment of the event began. Addressing the invited guests, Mr. Moshiur Rahman said: “On 26 November, the National Livestock Week will be officially inaugurated at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center, and the National Livestock Award 2025 will be distributed. On the same day at noon, a Livestock Exhibition and Food Festival has been organized at the old Trade Fair grounds in Dhaka. Those who have not yet booked a stall may still do so, and those who already have can encourage their acquaintances to book as well. We have very little time—only two days left. We all want to make this fair more lively. Everyone’s cooperation is needed.” Later, Mr. Shamsul Arefin Khaled (Anjon), Director of Nourish Poultry & Hatchery Ltd., said: “After the garments sector, the most important sector is the livestock sector. For the first time, the government has officially acknowledged this. Therefore, this time we must show our strength boldly. To make this event successful, all of us need to participate. And if it succeeds, then when an elected government comes next year, this will become even more established. To maintain this momentum, all kinds of support will be needed.”
The Director General of the Department of Livestock Services, Dr. Md. Abu Sufiun, said: “We have been doing a lot of work for this sector and contributing in many ways, but there had been no official acknowledgment. I myself have been writing letters for eight years. I started writing letters when I was AD Head in 2017, and in 2025 that letter finally received endorsement. So I am a witness. When the proposal was presented in the cabinet meeting on behalf of Madam (Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar), the Chief Advisor (Dr. Muhammad Yunus) asked if there was any objection. As there was none, it was approved. When I attended the Syndicate Meeting of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, a secretary from the Chief Advisor’s office said, ‘You are doing so much work, but why don’t people know about it? I myself don’t know many things about you.’ Therefore, I believe that the events on 26–28 November are a great opportunity for us. We are trying to bring these events under the government system and official endorsement, because such initiatives are very important. We are promoting, but more promotion is needed at the policy level. We must strongly present the progress of the livestock sector and bring government support for us. I am very hopeful because you have shown genuine interest on such short notice. So, with everyone together, I want to make this sector more visible. Everyone’s cooperation is needed.” Throughout the event, cordiality, mutual cooperation, and a shared commitment to advancing the industry made the get-together a warm and delightful gathering. Those involved in the poultry and livestock sector believe that such initiatives will play an important role in strengthening the industry in the future. |
