Under normal conditions, cats maintain a body temperature between 38.1°C and 39.2°C. However, when environmental heat or internal heat production overwhelms thermoregulatory mechanisms, heatstroke develops.
Unlike dogs, cats are generally efficient at regulating body temperature through behavioral adaptation, such as seeking shade and grooming. Nevertheless, under extreme conditions—especially in tropical climates like Bangladesh—cats may succumb to heatstroke, which can rapidly progress to multi-organ dysfunction and death if untreated. Heatstroke represents a veterinary emergency requiring immediate intervention to prevent irreversible cellular damage and systemic failure.
