| A Progress Review Workshop on Seaweed Improvement and On-Farm Research Activities was held on 27 December 2025 at Long Beach Hotel, Cox’s Bazar. The workshop was organized by the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) to review ongoing research and development activities related to seaweed improvement in coastal areas.
Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, Honorable Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, attended the workshop as the Chief Guest. The Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), the Director General of BARI, and the Executive Director of Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF) were present as Special Guests. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Md. Abdullah Yousuf Akhond, Director General (Additional Charge) of BARI. Participants discussed the progress of seaweed research, on-farm trials, and future strategies to enhance seaweed production and utilization in Bangladesh. Speakers highlighted the importance of seaweed as a potential resource for nutrition, climate-resilient agriculture, and coastal livelihood development. They emphasized strengthening research collaboration and expanding seaweed cultivation to support sustainable agriculture and economic growth in coastal regions. Scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders from various research and development organizations attended the workshop. |
