| Dhaka, Bangladesh: Bangladeshi aquaculture nutritionist Saifi Nasir has achieved a new international recognition by becoming a Founding Member of the International Society of Aquaculture Nutrition (ISAN), a Texas-based international scientific organization dedicated to advancing research, knowledge exchange and sustainable practices in aquaculture nutrition.
Saifi Nasir was previously associated with ISAN as a regular member. In recognition of his continued work, research and practical contributions to fish feed nutrition and its application in aquaculture, he has now been included among the organization’s founding members. The current list of ISAN founding members includes leading researchers and professionals from different countries working in aquaculture nutrition, feed science and related fields. Saifi Nasir is listed among the founding members as Md. Nasir Uddin Miah Saifi. His elevation to founding membership is being regarded as an important recognition of his ongoing efforts in fish feed nutrition research, feed formulation and costing, feed mill management, sustainable aquafeed production and practical nutrition management at farm level. Speaking about the achievement, Saifi Nasir, Author, Researcher, and Aquaculture Nutritionist based in Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh, said that his work has primarily focused on ensuring that research in fish feed nutrition delivers practical benefits to farmers, particularly through improved feed efficiency and cost-effective production. “Until now, I was associated with ISAN as a general member. Through the continuity of my work, my research in fish feed nutrition, and the evaluation of how that research can be effectively applied in aquaculture and culture practices, ISAN has now recognized me as a Founding Member.” He added that the recognition is not only a personal achievement or a matter of pride for KGS Group, but also a significant accomplishment for Bangladesh’s fisheries and aquaculture sector. “This is a matter of pride not only for KGS Group, but for the fisheries sector of Bangladesh as a whole. I believe this recognition will open many new doors for collaboration, research and knowledge exchange at the international level.” Advancing practical fish feed nutrition: Saifi Nasir has been working on different aspects of aquaculture nutrition, with particular emphasis on improving the quality and efficiency of fish feed while reducing production costs. His areas of interest include feed formulation, feed costing, feed mill operations, sustainable feed production and farm-level nutrition management. His approach combines research-based knowledge with practical applications in aquaculture, with the objective of helping farmers achieve better production performance and improved economic returns. His work also focuses on making modern nutrition knowledge more accessible and applicable to aquaculture producers, including small and marginal farmers. Through technical guidance, knowledge sharing and capacity-building initiatives, he has contributed to increasing awareness of science-based approaches to fish nutrition and feed management.
A significant milestone for Bangladesh: Founded in October 2025, the International Society of Aquaculture Nutrition (ISAN) aims to promote global collaboration in fish and crustacean feed nutrition, nutritional physiology, aquafeed production and sustainable aquaculture.
