| The Community-Based Climate Resilient Fisheries and Aquaculture Development in Bangladesh project successfully organized a five-day training program on climate-resilient fisheries and aquaculture from 18–22 September in Satkhira.
A total of 25 fisheries officials participated in the training, which was funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and jointly implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Department of Fisheries (DoF). The sessions focused on critical areas including climate impacts, risk assessments, adaptation strategies, early warning systems, disaster management, and gender-inclusive resilience in fisheries and aquaculture. Experts from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Water Development Board, DoF, and FAO facilitated the training. Through interactive discussions and technical sessions, participants gained enhanced knowledge and skills to address climate challenges in the fisheries sector. Officials noted that the program significantly strengthened their capacity to promote sustainable and climate-resilient aquaculture practices in Bangladesh, ensuring long-term benefits for communities dependent on fisheries. |
