On Thursday, 16 October 2025, “The Intestinal Inflammation Summit 2025” was successfully held at Le Meridien Hotel, Airport Road, Dhaka, jointly organized by Innovad® and their appointed distributor in Bangladesh, Planet Pharma.

The event was attended by Planet Group’s Managing Director Shah Habibul Haque, Directors Shah Fahad Habib and Mosleh Uddin, and distinguished guests including Paragon Group’s Managing Director Moshiur Rahman, Mr. Robert (Bob) Nichol, Business Director – Asia Pacific, Innovad Group; Mr. Gregory Hargreave, Senior Consultant, Innovad; Mr. Michele Muccio, Regional Technical Manager, Innovad – Asia Pacific; Dr. Fernando Trajano Lima, Global Technical Manager, Innovad (Poultry Health); Planet Pharma Limited’s General Manager Shamim Al Mamun, Shafiqul Islam, Azizul Haque Milon, and Mohammad Riaz Gauri, as well as other senior officials. The summit also hosted top executives, nutritionists, consultants, and poultry scientists from leading feed companies across the country, along with representatives from specialized print and electronic media. The session was conducted by Mr. Robert Bob Nichol, Director of INNOVAD ASIA PACIFIC PTE. LTD.

At the summit, the speakers presented highly informative technical sessions:

  • Mr. Gregory Hargreave (Senior Consultant, Innovad) on “Poultry Feed Production Relationship & Intestinal Inflammation”
  • Mr. Michele Muccio (Regional Technical Manager, Innovad – Asia Pacific) on “Intestinal Inflammatory Relationship Between Mycotoxins, Leaky Gut & AMR”
  • Dr. Fernando Lima (Global Technical Manager, Innovad – Poultry Health) on “Inflammation: Sub-Clinical Biomarkers & Clinical Symptoms”
  • Dr. Md. Shahriar Hoque (Manager, Technical & Sales – Planet Pharma) on “Practical Cocci Updates”

In his opening speech, Mr. Robert Bob Nichol welcomed the participants, highlighting the summit’s objectives, the roles of the speakers, and Innovad’s international commitment to sustainable poultry sector development.

Planet Pharma Director Shah Fahad Habib, in his speech, emphasized the long-term partnership between Innovad and Planet Pharma, explaining their shared vision for improved poultry nutrition and gut health management. He also noted that recognizing the importance of poultry health, Planet Pharma consistently focuses on the world’s most innovative technologies and has been importing Innovad® products for over 10 years for the benefit of the poultry industry.

Mr. Gregory Hargreave shared his research experience from Australia, explaining the close relationship between the quality of poultry feed and intestinal inflammation. Low-quality or unbalanced feed containing contaminants, mycotoxins, or excessive protein can cause intestinal inflammation in birds, leading to digestive problems, nutrient absorption disruption, and reduced productivity. Conversely, high-quality, balanced feed protects gut health, enhances immunity, and ensures improved feed conversion ratio. Therefore, using safe and scientifically balanced feed is crucial for sustainable poultry production.

Mr. Michele Muccio highlighted the link between mycotoxins, leaky gut, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in poultry. Mycotoxin-contaminated feed damages the gut, leading to weakened intestinal walls or “leaky gut,” which increases harmful bacteria, reduces immunity, and drives higher antibiotic usage, raising the risk of AMR. He stressed the importance of mycotoxin control, gut health maintenance, and judicious antibiotic use in modern poultry management.

Dr. Fernando Lima discussed the importance of sub-clinical biomarkers and clinical symptoms in identifying intestinal inflammation. At the sub-clinical stage, even without visible symptoms, changes in blood indicators, digestive enzymes, or gut microbiome abnormalities signal inflammation. At the clinical stage, symptoms such as digestive issues, weight loss, poor growth, and abnormal behavior appear. Early detection of these biomarkers allows timely interventions to maintain bird health and productivity.

Dr. Md. Shahriar Hoque shared field-based insights in his “Practical Cocci Updates” presentation, engaging the participants through active discussions and questions.

Shah Habibul Haque, Managing Director of Planet Group, thanked the attendees for joining the summit and expressed gratitude to the Innovad team for their innovative contributions and support.

As a special guest, Mr. Moshiur Rahman, Managing Director of Paragon Group, delivered an impactful talk on biosecurity and waste management in the poultry sector, urging farmers to prioritize safe, sustainable, and cost-effective production.

The summit concluded with a panel discussion, where speakers answered questions from industry professionals. A raffle draw was also held, awarding an iPhone 17 Max Pro as the first prize, AirPods as the second prize, and a JBL speaker as the third prize. The Q&A session was enthusiastically received by all participants. The event concluded with an exclusive dinner hosted by Innovad® and Planet Pharma for all invited guests.
