National Workshop on ACASA Portal Concludes at BARC

The three-day National Workshop on the Launching of the ACASA Portal, organized by the Computer & GIS Unit of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), concluded today (Thursday, 11 December 2025) at the BARC Auditorium.

The workshop, held from 9–11 December 2025, was inaugurated on Tuesday by Dr. Md. Abdus Salam, Executive Chairman of BARC, who attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. Md. Mosharraf Uddin Molla, Member Director (AERS), BARC.

Special guests at the inaugural program included Mr. Mirza Shawkat Ali, Director (Climate Change & International Convention), Department of Environment (DoE); Dr. Md. Bayzer Rahman, Director (Administration), Department of Livestock Services (DLS); and Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz, Additional Director (Extension and Coordination), Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).

During the opening session, Dr. Prasun Kumar Gangopadhyay, Specialist in Applied Data Science at BISA–CIMMYT, India, delivered the keynote presentation. Mr. Hasan Md. Hamidur Rahman, Director of the Computer & GIS Unit, BARC, delivered the welcome remarks, while Dr. Md. Golam Mahboob, Chief Scientific Officer (Forestry Unit), BARC, delivered the vote of thanks.

Throughout the three-day program, scientists and officers from NARS institutes, DAE, public and private organizations, and various international agencies took part in technical sessions, demonstrations, and discussions on the functionalities and future prospects of the ACASA Portal.

The workshop concluded with participants expressing optimism that the ACASA Portal will strengthen data-driven agricultural research, climate-resilient planning, and inter-agency collaboration across Bangladesh.
