The event was attended by the outgoing committee’s president, Moshiur Rahman, and general secretary, Dr. Biplob Kumar Pramanik. The newly elected president, Shamsul Arefin Khaled, officially took over responsibilities. The Director General of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Dr. Md. Abu Sufian, attended the event as the chief guest, while the Director General of the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI), Dr. Shakila Faruk, was present as a special guest.

Extending his best wishes to both the outgoing and the new committee, Dr. Md. Abu Sufian said, “The sustainable development of the livestock sector cannot be achieved solely through the efforts of the Department of Livestock Services. In this regard, the role of WPSA-BB is extremely important. I believe the newly elected committee will work with greater sincerity and dedication in the future. As in the past, the Department of Livestock Services will continue to provide necessary support to WPSA-BB.”

In her speech, special guest Dr. Shakila Faruk, DG of BLRI, praised WPSA-BB’s contributions to the advancement of the country’s poultry industry. She emphasized that modernization and steps to make the sector globally competitive are now essential to ensure sustainable progress.

Outgoing president and Managing Director of Paragon Group, Moshiur Rahman, delivered the welcome address. He expressed hope that the new committee would operate on an even wider scale in the coming days. He also assured that he would continue to support the new committee whenever needed for the development of the poultry sector.

At the inauguration ceremony, newly elected President and Director of Nourish Group, Shamsul Arefin Khaled, said in his speech that WPSA-BB has always been working for the sustainable development of the country’s poultry industry and the welfare of its members, and this trend will continue in the future.

He mentioned that a survey revealed only 6.9 percent of people in the country consume eggs daily, while only 0.6 percent consume chicken every day. Moreover, 35.7 percent of people did not consume chicken meat at all in the past week, which is an issue that deserves attention.

He also sought everyone’s cooperation in maintaining a transparent and well-disciplined business environment and in further strengthening coordination with various government agencies.

The newly elected general secretary, Mohammad Faizur Rahman, sought prayers from all present, saying: “We want to move forward together with all of you.”
